This step involves a pre-intervention workshop led by Marc Nudel. Most families consider the workshop among most rewarding parts of this process, since it brings everyone together to have an open dialogue, discuss logistics, and begin implementing the plan. At this point, the process of healing the family system begins, and the recovery team’s mindset begins to shift as everyone begins to assume a role in leading the recovery.

With behavior modifications set in the pre-intervention, the intervention represents the recovery’s first opportunity to display everyone’s new attitudes towards treatment. Done with the idea of building the individual’s self-esteem, the intervention process keeps love first and foremost.

The concept of participating in the intervention process can seem scary or intimidating for individuals and families. However, the behavioral modifications learned in the pre-intervention phase are designed to help ensure the intervention process is a rewarding experience of adopting new attitudes toward recovery and presenting a full plan towards treatment.

Nudel Family Pathways understands that the entire family system must be treated in order for the individual and family as a whole to recover and thrive. This is because most families live in fear and dysfunction for years while the disease attacks not only the identified patient, but also nearly everyone around him or her. Intervention must address this chaos as well. Assisting the individual patient in making the choice to accept treatment is only one component of the intervention process; healing the family system is equally important.

Therefore, this phase of the process begins by building a recovery team comprised of all the loved ones who are committed to the individual’s wellbeing and gathering consensus supporting a customized treatment plan. The family learns to speak as one voice, only supporting what is best for their loved ones.

Detox is the first step in treatment and is provided to all individuals whether or not they need it. During the days or weeks it takes the body to finish flushing out the toxic substances that resulted in physical dependence, acute withdrawal from drugs and alcohol may have serious life-threatening consequences. Detox units provide round-the-clock monitoring and customized care to keep clients safe and mitigate any side effects, including anxiety, cravings, body aches, irritability, insomnia, nausea, and increased sleeping.

A residential treatment center, also known as “rehab,” is a live-in health care facility combining a homelike environment with the functionality of a hospital while providing treatment for substance use and mental health disorders. Services include private psychiatric care, group meetings, psycho education, and personal care. Residential treatment centers take the lead role in the process of recovery, and Nudel Family Pathways provides case management of the process to ensure that the family is participating in the healing. This aspect of checks and balances ensures that all roles of recovery are in place.

Nudel Family Pathways works with the family and residential treatment centers to help ensure that aftercare programming is in place. Aftercare recovery is a customized plan to support individuals in early recovery, ensuring a smooth transition to life outside of treatment centers. An aftercare plan may include outpatient programs, private therapy, support groups, sober coaching, and spiritual exercises all collaborating to help people cope with triggers, stress, and cravings that they may face when treatment is complete.
